Third World War?

There was a time in my youth when the prophecies of Nostradamus fascinated me.  I soon lost interest in Nostradamus when I saw that his original writing was extremely obscure poetry which was interpreted by different people in different ways.  In fact, many of the interpretations sounded rather far-fetched, wrought to fit certain realities after they had taken place.   However, when America bombarded Osama bin Laden I went back to Nostradamus out of curiosity.

I was surprised by what I saw at one website that interprets the prophecies of Nostradamus.  “Third World War would start when Russia suddenly attacks Europe in coalition with certain Middle Eastern countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Libya and probably China,” said the interpretation.  It also wonders why Russia would attack the West “suddenly.”

I was surprised because just before reading this interpretation I had read a report in the European Union Times that Russia might join China in defending Pakistan against further American attacks.  The report says: “If China stands behind Pakistan, then Russia might be said to stand behind China. Looking forward to the upcoming June 15 meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Chinese President Hu praised Sino-Russian relations as being ‘at an unprecedented high point,’ with an ‘obvious strategic ingredient.’”

The report also says: “Chinese warnings are implicitly backed up by that nation’s nuclear missiles, including an estimated 66 ICBMs, some capable of striking the United States, plus 118 intermediate-range missiles, 36 submarine-launched missiles, and numerous shorter-range systems.”

Historically we seem to be standing at a point when China, Russia and the Islamic nations will unite against America and Europe.  There is every possibility of India extending its support to the West.  Already the mainstream Pakistani media is rife with reports about India’s RAW [Research and Analysis Wing] is working together with Israel’s Mossad and America’s CIA to destabilise Islamic terrorists and fundamentalist movements.

I started with a reference to the prophecy of Nostradamus.  Let me end with another prophecy.  St Malachy is said to have prophesied that Benedict XVI would be the last Pope.  According to Malachy, the 111th Pope – whom the prophet describes as ‘The Glory of the Olive’ – would be the last.  The interpretation goes thus: The name Benedict can be said to belong to St Benedict, the founder of the Benedictine order and the Benedictines were/are popularly known as Olivetans.  [I had already mentioned that many of the interpretations sound far-fetched.]

Will Nostradamus and Malachy or their interpreters be proved right?

It seems China, Pakistan and the Islamic nations are getting ready for that!  Of course, not without provocation from America.

How does your tongue feel, matheikal, after putting itself in your cheek ;-P

By the way, you say, ““Third World War would start when Russia suddenly attacks Europe in coalition with certain Middle Eastern countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Libya and probably China,”” That was indeed a precise interpretation, if you had not noticed. Nostradamus predicted Russai, not the USSR, would start the WW III!

Fun it was, reading this post!

Yes, that’s a very interesting and valid observation, Raghuram, about Russia-USSR which I had not thought of until you pointed it out.

Some references I have read, also state that India would eventually become the sole superpower. Sir, I am so eagerly waiting for that day, that’s what making me a tad impatient for WW III !

  4. I am a little sceptical of all that you have said. Firstly I find that a war is the last thing that the Chinese need especially opposite countries like India, USA and Europe which provide half of the Chinese companies with work due to their huge demands for cheap Chinese goods. So China would naturally be on a losing side due to a not so self-reliant economy.

While at the same time I doubt that India will join the US due to its close ties to Russia and many Islamic countries like Iran. However if Europe supports USA which it would then India would be in a fix to decide on whom to support. India is most likely going to remain neutral till it is attacked like USA was in the Second World War.

So I think that this claim of a third world war is quite far fetched. However it is a topic that would be great to analyse.

Dhruva, this particular post of mine is not to be taken any more seriously than the prophecies of Nostradamus or Malachy. I brought those in rather facetiously.

However, wars break out rather unexpectedly and move also in rather unexpected directions. The sheer incompatibility between America and the Islamic nations can indeed reach an alarming stage soon! China has its own global aspirations and will seize the war as an opportunity…

  5. Yeah, you are right this post is like the prophecies but it is always interesting to discuss and analyse such things. However I feel that you are playing the Chinese card a little too much because even though China has an advanced military, they would not be able to deal with the internal pressure which they will have to face as Chinese goods would be boycotted by these countries resulting in a poor economy. So China may not be anything more than a jack of all trades but a king of none.
